The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Sophie Wilson, from Old Kilpatrick, on winning the George D Gray Award in recognition of her fourth year dissertation, "I like to move it, move it”: An investigation of children’s motivation for Physical Education; an upper school Scottish Primary context; understands that her dissertation investigated older primary school children’s levels of motivation towards and in physical education, with her findings suggesting that positive correlations exist between autonomous motivation and each of the three basic psychological needs of competence, autonomy and relatedness; notes that this award recognises notable assignments by an initial teacher education student completing a primary teacher education programme in Scotland; believes that Sophie is a well-deserving recipient of this award; thanks her for using her passion to encourage school pupils to exercise, and wishes her all the best for the rest of her probationary year.
