Dumfries and Galloway's Through Young Eyes Short Film Launched
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Dumfries and Galloway Youth Work on the launch of the new short film, Through Young Eyes, which it believes is a powerful and thought-provoking short film made by young people; understands that the film explores the perceptions and lived experience of child poverty through the eyes of children and young people and offers an unflinching, hard-hitting, portrayal of the very real impact of it; agrees with the Chair of Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Tackling Poverty, Inequalities and Housing Sub-committee, Cllr Richard Brodie, that the film “serves as a stark reminder of the challenges we must confront as a community”; thanks all involved in preparing and videoing the feature, as well as the young people starring in it, for their efforts and for sharing their experiences, including the Dumfries and Galloway Youth Council, Dumfries and Galloway Citizens Advice Service, the Lochside Community Association and Urbancroft Films; encourages MSPs and people across Scotland to view the 12-minute film, which can be viewed on Dumfries and Galloway Council's website at dumgal.gov.uk/article/27282/Through-Young-Eyes-Launches, and reminds everyone of the huge impact of poverty, particularly on Scotland’s children and young people.
