Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Invests £3 million into Inverness Community Fire Station
The motion
That the Parliament commends the investment by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Serviceof £4.6 million in improvements to its sites in Inverness and Dingwall;understands that £3 million of this was spent on the Inverness Community FireStation, which opened in 1956; further understands that the new investmentmeans that the station will benefit from new decontamination and clean areaswithin the building, which it believes are vital to the wellbeing of its valuedfirefighters in their capacity to reduce workers’ unnecessary exposure to dirtand soot; notes what it sees as the importance of investment in thelife-saving services provided by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, whichresponds to more than 90,000 incidents each year, and that these incidents arenot limited to fires but also include traffic accidents, chemical spills, andincidents involving animals; celebrates the bravery and commitment offirefighters across Scotland, and wishes Inverness Community Fire Station allthe best for the future.
