Aitkenhead Primary School Attains Gold School Sport Award from Sportscotland
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the pupils and staff at Aitkenhead Primary School, in Uddingston, on attaining the 2024-26 Gold School Sport Award from sportscotland; welcomes the national initiative, funded by the National Lottery, which encourages schools to prioritise young people in decision-making, planning and implementing extra-curricular school sports, while also fostering stronger sporting connections between schools and their surrounding communities; believes that this award is reflective of Aitkenhead Primary School's excellent practice across the core areas of the award and ability to demonstrate an ongoing commitment to increase young people’s opportunities and engagement in physical education, school sport and leadership, and that it provides clear pathways to life-long participation in sport; understands that this is the sixth award to be granted in the Uddingston and Bellshill area, and wishes all students and staff at the awarded schools continued fulfilment and success in their sporting activities.
