Concern Regarding OVO Energy Plans to Charge for Paper Bills
The motion
That the Parliament notes with concern the reported announcement that OVO Energy plans to charge customers for receiving paper bills from December 2024; understands that there are exemptions in place for some types of customer, but believes that this will nonetheless risk disadvantaging vulnerable groups during a cost of living crisis as families struggle with higher energy costs; notes that the exemptions do not take into account communities that experience poor or inconsistent broadband and mobile coverage; highlights the accessibility issues that it believes these proposals would create as a result, and calls on OVO Energy to rethink its approach to customer billing.
