Commending the Pupils of St James' Primary School

The motion

That the Parliament commends the pupils of St James’ Primary School in Paisley for their engagement with Black History Month 2024; understands that the school’s pupils took part in a number of activities throughout the month, which allowed them to engage with themes including inclusion and diversity; notes that activities included learning about key historical figures through storytelling and music, watching thought-provoking films and performing in a showcase event for parents to demonstrate their knowledge; recognises that Layna McGhee, acting depute headteacher at St James’, led the initiative while also participating in Education Scotland’s award-winning Building Racial Literacy programme, and wishes pupils and staff all the best in their efforts to promote inclusion and understanding at their school and in the wider community.
