Congratulations to Shopmobility Aberdeen

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Shopmobility Aberdeen on being awarded The King’s Award for Voluntary Service; notes that Shopmobility Aberdeen, which has been operating since 1992, provides a range of services to remove social and physical barriers to equality of mobility, including volunteer companions, and wheelchair accessible cars, mobility scooters and wheelchairs, in order to increase confidence and broaden choices; understands that it also takes part in local authority planning to ensure that the needs of people with barriers to their mobility are respected, and seeks out those who are socially isolated to provide them with the support that they need to reintegrate with their communities; further understands that The King’s Award for Voluntary Service was created in 2002 and is the highest award given to local voluntary groups in the UK, and are awarded for life; believes that the team at Shopmobility Aberdeen should be rightly proud of this recognition for over 30 years of service to the people of Aberdeen, and wishes them all the best for the next 30 years and more.
