Asiyah and Jawad Javed are Recipients of the Industry Achievement Award 2024

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Asiyah and Jawad Javed, of the A&J Alloa Road Shop, on being given the Industry Achievement Award at the Scottish Grocer Awards 2024; understands that the annual event was celebrated with a ceremony on 6 November 2024 in Glasgow; notes that the criteria for the Industry Achievement Award under consideration by the judges had them on the lookout for retailers who put the local community at the centre of what they do, as well as store owners who had shown long-term commercial successes and a strong entrepreneurial drive; considers that Asiyah and Jawad have exemplified all of the above, from their work during the COVID-19 pandemic to support NHS staff, carers and the local community, to providing hot food for the homeless and those facing financial hardship within the community; notes that, when Asiyah and Jawad were nominated to represent Falkirk East as Local Heroes for the 25th anniversary celebration of the Scottish Parliament, they were personally thanked for all of their hard work and community support by King Charles; congratulates Asiyah and Jawad on being given the Industry Achievement Award 2024, and thanks them for all of the hard work that they continue to do to support vulnerable people within their community.
