East Lothian Council Achieves Living Wage Accreditation
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates East Lothian Council on being recognised as a Living Wage accredited employer during Living Wage Week 2024, which took place from 4 to 10 November; understands that the accreditation is awarded by the Living Wage Foundation in recognition of employers that go further than the national minimum wage to ensure that wages reflect the cost of living; believes that this accreditation demonstrates East Lothian Council’s commitment to fair work and reducing in-work poverty for its own staff and contractors that it uses, as well as using its position as a large purchaser of goods and services to benefit the wider economy, and welcomes the fact that East Lothian Council has joined a growing movement of more than 3,750 employers across Scotland that now have Living Wage accreditation.
