10th Anniversary of Aberdeen Climate Action
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Aberdeen Climate Action on its 10th anniversary; understands that it was created in late 2014 and is a completely volunteer-run organisation that aims to inform and prompt action on climate change and sustainable practices in the north east of Scotland through awareness raising, education, partnerships and support; commends its monthly Climate Cafés that have informed and inspired people in the north east to understand and take action on issues including renewable energy, transport, food, finance and carbon capture, use and storage; recognises its work in launching the North East Scotland Climate Action Network (NESCAN), with which it hosts Climate Week North East, Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire’s yearly programme of events; praises its range of other activities and achievements, including fostering new climate action groups, contributing to key consultations, attending COP26, hosting inspiring conferences, organising litter picks and much more, and thanks its dedicated volunteers for their commitment to a fair, sustainable and thriving future for the city of Aberdeen, the north east of Scotland and people and ecosystems across the world.
