The motion

That the Parliament celebrates the National Gold Award for Ore Valley Housing Association (OVHA), in Fife, at the Green Apple Environment Awards 2024; understands that the award in the Property and Estate Management: Regeneration category has been bestowed on the housing association for the transformation of the former Bowhill Miners Institute in Cardenden, Fife, where it took the building from a near ruin to now providing 10 energy efficient homes for social housing; understands that the Green Apple Environment Awards were established in 1994 as an annual campaign to recognise, reward and promote environmental best practice around the world; commends what it sees as the tremendous, and prolonged, effort made by OVHA and its partners, including Campion Homes, ECD Architects, Kingdom Housing Association and the Scottish Government, to save this historic property and restore it once again at the heart of the community; is very grateful to OVHA for its recognition of the symbolic historical importance of the building to the community living in the former mining town, and for its commitment to the regeneration and renewal through sympathetic preservation, and extends its gratitude to all involved in this challenging project.
