Bowhill Woodland Revitlisation
The motion
That the Parliament notes what it sees as the fantastic work being led by Elaine Collins, from the Cardenden Walking Group, in revitalizing Bowhill Woodland, a project that focuses on reforestation, removing invasive species and reintroducing native plants and wildlife to foster biodiversity and ecosystem health; notes that the woodland was first laid out in the late 1960s, from land left over from bings from the Bowhill pit; considers that Ms Collins’ leadership has united volunteers, local authorities, Fife Council’s grounds maintenance team and local businesses in restoration work that has involved upgrading tracks, installing gates, adding waymarked posts and extensive bulb planting, making the area more accessible and engaging, and recognises that the project now aims to reach out to local schools and youth groups.
