The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the news that SPECTRA, Scotland’s Festival of Light, will return to Aberdeen in 2025, from 6 to 9 February; notes that the festival, which has now been taking place in Aberdeen annually since 2014, provides a programme of free artwork and events at sites across the city centre, including at Aberdeen Art Gallery, Union Terrace Gardens and Marischal College; understands that the festival has grown from an audience of 10,000 at a single site in its inaugural year to over 100,000 visitors per year at multiple sites, making it Scotland’s largest urban light festival, contributing an estimated £2.6 million in visitor spend to the local economy; believes that the festival will provide an unforgettable experience for visitors and residents, providing the perfect opportunity for people to enjoy everything Aberdeen has to offer; congratulates Aberdeen City Council on securing the festival for another year, which is now firmly established in Scotland’s event calendar, and hopes that it is every bit as successful as previous years.
