Glasgow 850
The motion
That the Parliament notes that, throughout 2025, Glasgow will mark its 850thanniversary, which will be celebrated around the world by fellow Glaswegiansand marked by the city itself with various events, including an extensiveprogramme of community-based activities, aimed at celebrating the city’s past,present and future though various mediums, including inviting people at homeand abroad to share their memories of and hopes for their beloved city; notesthat a special programme to recruit volunteers will take place, providingpeople with the unique opportunity to represent the city that they and theirfamilies call home, alongside, as part of the celebrations, a focus on theinvaluable role that community councils play by creating a platform for all itscitizens to stage and host their own events as part of Glasgow 850, andencourages everyone in Glasgow, the West of, and indeed across Scotland, to getinvolved and celebrate what it believes makes Glasgow, its people and itsfuture great.
