The motion

That the Parliament congratulates NHS Orkney on the news that the NHS board’s maternity and health visiting services have received gold accreditation from UNICEF; understands that this accreditation has been maintained, having first been granted for maternity services in 2014, and in 2015 for health visiting services; notes that comments from the annual audit by UNICEF observed that "100% of surveyed mothers said they were treated with kindness and consideration all of the time", and that "100% of women surveyed said they were happy with their care", which, it considers, is a remarkable testament to the quality of care provided at NHS Orkney, having clearly embedded a compassionate and person-centred practice of which its staff should be very proud; acknowledges that this level of dedication to serving the community means that babies across Orkney get the best start in life and that their families are supported and treated compassionately throughout a range of often difficult circumstances, and pays tribute to the staff at NHS Orkney for their tireless work in caring for their community with kindness, respect and sensitivity.
