Harmony Energy Income Trust Supporting Charities and Community Groups in Lochgelly

That the Parliament welcomes the award by Harmony Energy Income Trust (HEIT) through its Little Raith Community Fund to seven charities and community groups in Lochgelly, Fife, which are located within a five-mile radius of HEIT’s Little Raith battery energy storage system; notes that these community initiatives are estimated to directly benefit over 5,000 people; understands that the support provided by them includes providing essential care packs to vulnerable individuals, helping with environmental enhancement and educating and developing opportunities for younger generations; believes that the community offers an important opportunity to help communities in Lochgelly thrive during what it sees as these challenging times; welcomes the funding, which is being given to Denend Primary School, for the development of its outdoor playground, the Cottage Family Centre Christmas Appeal, for the provision of essential support and basic necessities during the holiday season to families and children facing poverty and other challenges, Cardenden Community Council towards a joint venture with Cardenden Development Forum and Cardenden Environment Group to provide flower baskets, the Knights Templar Goodwill Charity of Scotland for the provision of community care packs, Lochgelly Band to expand music opportunities across the community, including the development of both a youth group and an advanced percussion group, St Patrick’s RC Primary School Parent Council to help subsidise an educational school trip for pupils, with the aim of ensuring equal opportunities for all students, and Lochgelly Children's Gala, towards its community event; acknowledges HEIT’s commitment to operating responsibly and promoting positive environmental and social change; considers that HEIT’s assets are crucial in achieving net zero, and contributing to energy security and affordability, and extends its very best wishes to all the groups for the success of all of their projects.
