Glasgow Couple Combatting Loneliness

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Jack Glass and Billi Allen for launching a brand-new initiative to combat Glasgow’s loneliness epidemic; understands that Talking is Mental is a series of exercise and socialising groups to help people in the city through struggles with isolation and mental health; notes that the initiative offers a range of groups such as Walking is Mental and Football is Mental, which are designed to help people meet others and get involved in activities within their local community; understands that, by offering opportunities that are fun and sociable, the pair wanted to make sure that the groups are accessible to all by removing as many barriers as possible for people; acknowledges that, going forward, Billi and Jack will be launching Talking is Mental, a men-to-men peer group, which will give men a space to socialise and talk, along with Reading is Mental and Theatre is Mental sessions.
