Glasgow Boat Club Still Going Strong After 40 Years

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Richmond Park Model Boat Club, which is in Glasgow’s southside, on its 40th anniversary; understands that people from the area and further afield have been meeting in the park to share their enthusiasm for maritime in miniature for years, with members bringing their remote-controlled boats, some of which have been built from scratch, to sail on the water; notes that the club has 85 members, many of whom have a maritime connection to the Royal Navy, merchant navy, boat yards and shipbuilding on the Clyde, and understands that the pond can have model warships, fishing boats, tugs and yachts sailing across its waters at any time, with members busy sailing, fixing their boats and catching up with fellow enthusiasts over a weekend.
