NHS Grampian Home Haemodialysis

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the news that kidney dialysis patients across NHS Grampian are to be given the option of home treatment after a successful pilot of home haemodialysis; notes that the service, which has been developed over a number of years to ensure a safe and well-supported framework for home treatment, was delivered to four patients during the test period, and is due to be extended to another 20 patients in 2025; understands that home haemodialysis, where specialist equipment is installed at the patient's home, allows patients to have their care in their control, allowing them to decide what works best for them, including whether to dialyse more frequently for shorter periods, supported by routine visits from the clinical nursing team; congratulates all those involved in the pilot, including NHS Grampian Charity, which supported the purchasing of specialist equipment, and hopes that many people can have their quality of life improved by this treatment as it continues to be rolled out to more patients.
