Glasgow Primary School Pupil Wins Schools' Teepee Competition

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Nicola Tryc, from Sandaig Primary School, on winning the Glasgow Wood Charity Schools' Teepee Competition; understands that over 11 schools took part with over 500 pupil entries; notes that the children were to devise a name for a school teepee along with a colourful design and story; acknowledges that Nicola’s entry was chosen because of the bright shapes and abstract colours that she used, along with her chosen name, the Bright Glowing Teepee, and her story as to why her school deserved a teepee; understands that Nicola and her fellow pupils from Sandaig Primary will be invited to Glasgow Wood, which is based in the city's South Street, to paint her design on a wooden teepee, which will take pride of place in the school's playground; recognises that the charity's mission is for a more healthy and sustainable population and planet and to improve the wellbeing of the communities that it serves by providing valuable training and volunteer opportunities to people as a solution for unemployment and social exclusion; understands that, by reusing and rehousing timber, it builds quality furniture and accessories; notes that it also works on bespoke work requests and much larger projects for homes, businesses and third sector organisations, and understands that, by doing so, it aims to prevent huge quantities of timber being sent to landfill.
