Inverclyde Council and HSCP Awarded National Bereavement Charter for Scotland

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Inverclyde Council and Inverclyde Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) on becoming the first local authority in Scotland to receive the National Bereavement Charter for Scotland; recognises what it sees as this prestigious achievement as a testament to the local authority’s commitment to supporting its staff through bereavement; commends the collaborative efforts of Inverclyde Council, Inverclyde HSCP and Compassionate Inverclyde in implementing the charter as a guiding vision for bereavement support across the organisations; applauds the provision of bereavement training for line managers and the creation of an animated video promoting the charter, which has been shared widely among staff groups; understands that Inverclyde Council successfully met three key criteria to qualify for the Charter Mark, which were, informing all staff about the charter, adopting a Bereavement Policy and developing and displaying a workplace bereavement charter, and celebrates what it considers as this innovative approach as an example of best practice in creating compassionate and supportive workplaces in Scotland.
