Gordon Hay Recognised in the New Year Honours List

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Gordon Hay on being recognised in the New Year Honours list by being appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in recognition of his services to the promotion of the Doric; commends Gordon on what it sees as the dedication that he has put in to translating both the old and new testaments of the bible into the language; recognises that he was the first person to deliver Time for Reflection in the Parliament in Doric; understands that his work has seen him invited to read at Crathie Kirk by the then Duke of Rothesay; notes that Gordon has since become one of the co-founders and treasurer of the Doric Board, and commends him on his hard work and dedication in continuing to promote Doric, not just in the north east, but across Scotland as a whole.
