Glasgow's International Comedy Festival
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the return of the Glasgow International Comedy Festival as part of Glasgow’s 850 celebrations; acknowledges that the festival, which is running from 12 to 30 March 2025, promises to be the biggest and best yet, showcasing an impressive line-up of local, UK and international comedic talent; notes that the festival will take place in iconic venues across the city, including the King’s Theatre, Oran Mor and The Stand; commends the festival’s commitment to inclusivity through its Comedy Connects strand, which supports new performers and fosters diversity in the comedy world; applauds the festival’s dedication to nurturing future generations of comedians through initiatives such as the free Introduction to Comedy course for women and marginalised genders; recognises what it sees as the significant cultural and economic impact the festival has on Glasgow and beyond, and wishes all involved every success for this year’s celebration of humour, creativity, and community.
