Inclusive Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire Awards

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the launch of the new Inclusive Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire Awards, which will take place at Union Kirk on 19 April 2025; notes that the awards will celebrate businesses, individuals and organisations who go above and beyond to create spaces, opportunities and initiatives to ensure everyone feels welcomed, valued and included; understands that the award categories reflect the key themes of advice sought by local parents, carers and customers during the We Too! Ninja HQ drop-in sessions held at the Trinity Centre in Aberdeen, including everyday tasks such as haircuts, shoe shopping and dentistry, which can produce significant sensory challenges for neurodivergent children and others with sensory needs; further understands that applications for the awards will be open at wetoo.org.uk from 20 January to 21 February, which will be followed by a public vote to allow customers and service users to cast their vote in support of the people and places that have excelled in making a difference to their lives; congratulates Phionna McInnes and the rest of the team at We Too! for establishing these awards, and hopes that they are successful in highlighting those who are playing their part in helping make the world a more inclusive place.
