Scottish Schools Education Research Centre (SSERC) Celebrates its 60th Anniversary
The motion
That the Parliament celebrates the 60th anniversary of the Scottish Schools Education Research Centre (SSERC) in 2025; recognises what it sees as its pivotal role in supporting science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education in Scotland for over six decades; acknowledges SSERC’s commitment to inspiring and equipping young people aged three to 18 with the skills needed to succeed in an evolving world and workforce; recognises what it sees as SSERC’s continuous adaptation to the needs of the education sector, ensuring that teachers and pupils have access to high-quality resources and support, becoming a key resource for STEM educators across Scotland; commends SSERC for empowering educators through professional development, fostering creativity and innovation in STEM teaching; highlights what it sees as the importance of STEM education in preparing young people for future challenges, supporting innovation, economic growth, and sustainability across industries, including technology, engineering, healthcare, and green energy; recognises SSERC’s role in shaping an inclusive educational environment that promotes diversity and provides equal opportunities for all learners, and extends its congratulations and gratitude to SSERC for its exceptional achievements and ongoing dedication to advancing STEM education in Scotland.
