Aberdeen Central Just Transition Participatory Budget Winners

That the Parliament congratulates the organisations based in Aberdeen Central that have been successful in the Just Transition Participatory Budgeting (JTPB) Year 3 public vote; notes that Asylum and Refugee Care, based in the city centre, received £2,939,94 to support New Scots with volunteering opportunities in community gardens across Aberdeen; further notes that The Bread Maker, a social enterprise based on Rosemount Viaduct, which provides employment for adults with learning difficulties, has been awarded £49,488 for the installation of highly energy-efficient replacement ovens to help become the greenest bakery in the north east; understands that the Aberdeen City branch of Cycling Without Age Scotland has been awarded £10,440 to support its work in helping the elderly and disabled access the outdoors thanks to special Trishaw bikes; further understands that the Gairn Community Garden, which is transforming an unused space alongside the Deeside Railway line into a green community hub, has been awarded £42,622.88; recognises that the Rosemount Community Centre Association is receiving £1,454 to increase engagement with green areas in Rosemount and promote green living to people in the community; further recognises that St George’s Community Centre, in Tillydrone, has been awarded £31,410.93 to help upgrade to double glazing windows to provide the community with a safe, warm space to enjoy events and reduce fuel costs; notes that Your Love Rara, based on Justice Street, is receiving £6,430.20 to promote environmental sustainability, community engagement and resource conservation by providing a space for people to connect with nature, donate and repurpose goods, and access educational materials for free; believes that these awarded funds will be put to good use in promoting sustainability in communities across Aberdeen Central, and hopes that all the projects being funded are a great success.
