Launch of Help for Veterans in Inverclyde

The motion

That the Parliament commends Jordan Finnegan, a former soldier from Inverclyde, and his fellow Scots Guards veterans, William Woodburn, Stephen Fisher, Thomas Docherty and David Morren, on launching the Help for Veterans charity to support veterans struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder and financial hardship; notes the charity’s mission to provide vital funding for food, rent, and bills, as well as support to access life-saving treatment programmes; recognises what it sees as the importance of raising awareness of the challenges faced by veterans; applauds the group’s initiatives such as the “Run to Remember” campaign, encouraging people in the Greenock and Inverclyde constituency to run a mile for each of the 457 fallen soldiers of the war in Afghanistan, and the team’s recent climb of Ben Nevis, which, it understands, raised £800; acknowledges Jordan’s podcast, A Nail in the Fish, which raises awareness of mental health issues among veterans, and thanks the men’s dedication to improving the lives of veterans in Inverclyde and beyond.
