Befriend A Child Giving Tree Appeal

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Aberdeen charity, Befriend a Child, on the success of its Christmas 2024 Giving Tree Appeal; notes that the appeal, which takes place every year in November and December through Giving Tree partners displaying Giving Tree tags in their offices, shops and businesses, received an unprecedented number of gifts in donations, coming from over 110 Giving Tree partners across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, enabling it to distribute gifts to over 200 children and their siblings; understands that, in addition to the thousands of gifts received, the charity received a further £15,737 to go towards fun experiences for children, as well as their volunteer befrienders and mentors; recognises the hard work and dedication of Befriend a Child’s staff and volunteers in making sure that the children they support are able to experience joy and comfort during what can be a difficult period for them and their families, and looks forward to more successful appeals in the future.
