The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Linzi Bowden, a teacher at Orchard Primary School in Wishaw, on the publication of her latest book, Grampa’s Memory, which is a deeply personal journey based on her own family’s experience; notes that the book explores the question of who owns a memory and examines the emotional and psychological effects of dementia on families and children; recognises that Linzi’s stepdad, Grant Nagel, who has Alzheimer’s, and her two daughters, were the inspiration behind this important work; acknowledges the time and effort Linzi dedicated to developing the book, and commends her for raising awareness of dementia; further acknowledges that in Scotland, over 90,000 people live with dementia, with many more impacted as family members and carers; wishes Linzi all best with her writing, and thanks her family for sharing their story to help others understand its impact.
