Fir Park Corner 2014

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Fir Park Corner 2014 football team for organising and hosting a successful tournament at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Centre in aid of Maranatha Food Bank, with 64 teams taking part; recognises the significant contribution made by all players, coaches, and parents of Fir Park Corner 2014, as well as the other teams who participated and generously contributed to the food collection; acknowledges the positive impact of this charitable effort in supporting those in need within the community; understands that Maranatha Food Bank, which is based in Motherwell, distributes fresh food every Thursday to families and individuals in need in the local area; further understands that the charity provides companionship, whilst signposting to other organisations to help ensure that recipients are receiving all the financial and emotional support available to them; believes that many larders and food banks across Scotland have seen a rise in demand over the last few months, with many, it understands, struggling to maintain stocks during the current cost of living crisis; thanks all the organisations involved in providing support to the residents of Lanarkshire and the surrounding area, and wishes Fir Park Corner 2014 and all the volunteers at the Maranatha centre all the best for the future.
