Congratulates Hillwood Community Sports Hub on its Collaboration with Horticulture and Floristry Students

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Hillwood Community Sports Hub, based in the southside of Glasgow on its collaboration with horticulture and floristry students at Glasgow Clyde College’s Langside campus, who will turn a man-made and un-aesthetic hill into a sea of beautiful shrubs and trees; understands that, Willie Smith, founder of the Hillwood Boys Club football team and the sports hub, hopes that the transformation will lead to a place where more people get out of their homes and enjoy walking around the area especially in the summer months, while reminding members of the public that the hub is not just for football; notes that the students have already been out to the area measuring the space and will begin drawing up their own plans in due course; understands that designing will take about six to 10 weeks, and that Willie will then pick his favourite, which will become the inspiration for the new site, and believes that, not only does the partnership benefit the community, but the students are also gaining real-life work experience, getting out of their comfort zones, and learning a sense of what they may do when they leave college.
