Net Zero Challenge Vehicle
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes Scotland’s first dedicated outreach vehicle, which aims to educate children across the north east about all things relating to net zero; notes that the Net Zero Challenge vehicle is a hydrogen dual-fuel lorry, which will begin its road trip this spring to visit schools and community and industry events, to deliver resources and educate the public about the challenges and opportunities of the shift to net zero; understands that the collaborative project was designed in partnership with Glasgow Science Centre, and is funded by ETZ Ltd, Shell UK, North East Scotland College (NESCol) and the Scottish Government’s Just Transition Fund; recognises that the project forms part of the first dedicated energy transition skills hub, which will be located next to NESCol’s Altens campus, to provide cutting-edge equipment and expert-led learning; understands that its focus will be on equipping the future workforce with the skills needed for the low-carbon energy sector; commends all those involved for making the project a reality, and wishes the teachers and pupils all the best going forward.
