National Lottery Funding for West Coast Furniture Bank SCIO
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the award of £20,000 from the National Lottery Community Fund to West Coast Furniture Bank SCIO to support its essential work in providing household items to individuals and families in need across Ayrshire; understands that the charity, established 18 years ago by George and Fiona McMahon, has supported over 4,000 people in 2024 alone; acknowledges the organisation’s role in assisting vulnerable groups, including referrals from Women’s Aid and asylum seekers, helping to ensure that those facing extreme poverty are provided with essential furniture and household goods; believes that the charity’s work helps to reduce waiting times for support, which would otherwise require grant applications through local authorities; commends the dedication of its volunteers, who have received national recognition for their efforts, and highlights the significant impact that it understands this funding will have in continuing to support individuals and families in urgent need across Ayrshire.
