Celebrating World Wildlife Day 2025

The motion

That the Parliament notes that 3 March 2025 marks World Wildlife Day, as designatedby the United Nations to celebrate and raise awareness of the world’s wildanimals and plants; recognises that this year’s theme, "Connecting Peopleand Planet: Exploring Digital Innovation in Wildlife Conservation",highlights the role of technology and innovation in protecting biodiversity andecosystems; acknowledges what it sees as the importance of Scotland’s richnatural heritage and the need to safeguard its diverse wildlife for futuregenerations; appreciates the work of conservation organisations, environmentalgroups, and local communities in protecting Scotland’s species and habitats;recognises the role of species reintroduction efforts in restoring ecological balance,including projects aimed at bringing back native species to their naturalhabitats, and encourages further action to address biodiversity loss and thethreats it considers are facing wildlife in Scotland and globally.
