The motion

That the Parliament sends its best wishes to Alison Barr, a former teacher at Knockbain and Cauldeen Primary Schools, and her eight-person crew as they prepare to set sail on a world-first row around the UK; understands that the crew will leave from Eyemouth on 1 April 2025 for the 2,000 mile challenge, which is expected to take anywhere between 30 and 60 days; appreciates that Alison is raising funds for Alzheimer's Research UK, a condition that her father has; further appreciates that Alison and the team are encouraging local rowing clubs, including those based around the Moray Firth, to track their progress online and to come to show their support; understands that Alison is eager to prove that rowing is an accessible and fulfilling sport, which anyone can excel in, no matter their personal background, and wishes Alison and the team all the very best with the rest of their training and the challenge itself.
