Ruairidh and Hayley Harper's Automated External Defibrillator Fundraiser

The motion

That the Parliament acknowledges what it sees as the remarkable fundraising efforts of Ruairidh Harper and his sister, Hayley, and for their dedication to raising funds for an automated external defibrillator (AED) at Morningside Primary School; notes that Ruairidh and Hayley raised £900 in just 24 hours to support the school’s initiative to purchase the AED, which will help ensure the safety and wellbeing of students and staff; recognises the significance of their efforts in raising awareness about heart conditions, especially considering that approximately 700,000 people in Scotland live with some form of heart disease; commends the continued efforts to improve access to lifesaving equipment, such as AEDs, in schools and communities across Scotland; encourages further initiatives to raise awareness about heart health and to ensure that communities have the resources that they need to respond to cardiac emergencies, and wishes Ruairidh and Hayley all the best with their fundraising efforts.
