Alzheimer Scotland's Shooting Stars Event at The Falkirk Stadium
The motion
That the Parliament commends Alzheimer Scotland on its efforts to raise awareness of dementia through its charity football event, Shooting Stars, which takes place on 2 March 2025 at The Falkirk Stadium; recognises that the family day is an opportunity for the community to come together to support people living with dementia; notes that the event will include football legends and celebrities to raise vital funds to support dementia care and research, including into improvements in brain health; believes that dementia affects an estimated 90,000 people in Scotland; understands that this event is an opportunity to raise awareness that physical activities, such as football, are good for the brain and help to reduce your risk of dementia, if played safely and preventive guidelines are adhered to; believes that Alzheimer Scotland is Scotland’s national dementia charity and seeks to make sure that nobody faces dementia alone; congratulates Alzheimer Scotland on its efforts to support people living with dementia, and their families and carers, through its services and support across the country, and wishes everyone involved every success for the event.
