24/7 Thrombectomy Services in Scotland

The motion

That the Parliament expresses its disappointment at what it sees as the continued lack of 24/7 thrombectomy services in Scotland; believes that there is overwhelming evidence of the life-saving and disability-reducing benefits of these services for stroke patients; recognises that stroke does not wait for "office hours" and therefore questions for what reason this vital treatment reportedly remains unavailable outside of limited timeframes across Scotland; believes that thrombectomy should be offered on a 24/7 basis nationwide to ensure that all people, regardless of when they have a stroke, have access to the best possible care; supports calls to trial the expansion of the FAST stroke recognition test to BE FAST ((balance, eyes, face, arms, speech, time), trusting the people of Scotland with critical information that, it believes, could improve early stroke detection and save lives; thanks the Bundy family from Tullibody for their tireless campaigning to highlight what it sees as the shortcomings in Scotland's stroke care, following the tragic loss of their loved one, Anthony, and acknowledges their efforts to improve outcomes for future stroke patients.
