The motion

That the Parliament commends the incredible work of Robyn and Orla Thistlewaite, from South Lanarkshire, who raised money for a local charity by selling homemade soap; understands that Robyn and Orla learnt to make handmade soap with a friend and sold it at the Kirklandpark Primary School Christmas Fair in East Kilbride, and gave the proceeds to the Loaves and Fishes volunteer food bank, which received £100; further understands that Robyn and Orla did more to support their community by volunteering at Loaves and Fishes, sorting food and seeing what the donation would be going towards; understands that 650 families were able to get Christmas presents in 2024 due to the generosity of Robyn, Orla and others; notes that Robyn and Orla live in Strathaven, but have strong family connections to north Edinburgh, where their mother and grandparents are from; thanks Robyn, Orla and all those who volunteer and raise money for charity, and hopes for the continued recognition of such kindness and generosity.
