Biggar High School Participates in the 2025 SP Energy Networks Warriors School Championship

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the news that pupils from Biggar High School arecurrently participating in the 2025 SP Energy Networks (SPEN) Warriors SchoolChampionship; understands that the SPEN Warriors Championship supports rugby ata grassroots level and creates a platform for aspiring rugby stars, whilehighlighting science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM)opportunities to encourage students to think about a career beyond the game;notes that this is the eighth year of SPEN supporting the championships, whichrun from 1 April to 6 May 2025 and include over 6,000 young people from 28schools; understands that SPEN will also be undertaking outreach events toshowcase the value of STEM skills in a range of careers, including in sportthrough its partnership with the Glasgow Warriors that showcases the sciencebehind rugby and the importance of health and wellbeing; commends SPEN on what it sees as itsinnovative approach to inspire development of STEM skills in young people;celebrates Biggar High School’s participation in the championship, and wishes itall the best through this year’s championship.
