Borders Together Tartan

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the unveiling of the Borders Together Tartan, the Scottish Borders’ memorial to the experiences of residents during the COVID-19 pandemic, which is part of a Scotland-wide project, Remembering Together; understands that the tartan’s creation, which has been facilitated by Two Destination Language, was developed with input from people across the Borders, with over 700 contributions leading to the final design; notes that the tartan is made to symbolise the unity and strength of the Borders' communities during the pandemic, with 2025 marking five years on from its outbreak; recognises that there have been a number of public unveiling events at various locations throughout the Borders, offering the opportunity to take a moment to reflect on the impact the pandemic had on everyone's lives while also celebrating the resilience shown by communities, and believes that this is a fitting way to reflect.
