Morningside Primary School Finalists at Keep Scotland Beautiful Marine Litter Art Competition

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Morningside Primary School, Newmains, for reaching the finals of the Keep Scotland Beautiful Marine Litter Art Competition as part of its Upstream Battle® campaign; acknowledges that the competition aims to encourage young people to understand the impact of marine litter; commends the students and staff for their creative contributions to the exhibition that focused on the Arrochar "Litter Sink", highlighting how litter dropped in local streets or paths can travel via the Clyde to Arrochar, negatively affecting both the community and the marine environment; notes that Morningside Primary School was one of only nine schools selected from over 90 entries across primary, early years, and additional support needs schools from the Clyde Valley, Ayrshire, and Arrochar; recognises what it believes to be the importance of engaging young people in environmental issues as a vital step towards creating a sustainable and litter-free future, and wishes Morningside Primary School all the best at the finals.
