SCIAF Wee Box Appeal 2025

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund’s (SCIAF) 2025 Wee Box Appeal; understands that this year’s Wee Box Appeal highlights SCIAF’s local partnerships with people in Chocó, Colombia, in building peace and offering tangible support; notes that the aims of SCIAF are to provide aid, including shelter, food and water, to those caught up in violence, with a focus on safe havens for children affected by war and assistance for communities to help with rebuilding lives long into the future; understands that 2025 marks the 60th anniversary of SCIAF, with its motto being "A Better World is Possible"; further understands that the launch of the film, Dignity, marked the start of SCIAF’s 60th anniversary year, with SCIAF having been founded in a Rutherglen classroom in 1965; considers that Deacon Blue's iconic hit, Dignity, was centre-stage at the GFT in Glasgow as the film was launched in its name, and welcomes what it sees as SCIAF’s positive partnerships and commitment to a just world, free of poverty, where people flourish and live in harmony with each other and all creation.
