Scotland's National Chef Gary Maclean Gains Prestigious Honour

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates  Gary Maclean, who is Scotland’s national chefand the senior chef lecturer at City of Glasgow College, on what it sees as hisoutstanding success on being elected as an academician of the Royal Academy ofCulinary Arts (RACA); notes that, by doing so, he is joining what itunderstands are some of the most respected figures in the industry, includingculinary icons such as Raymond Blanc, Tom Kerridge and Clare Smyth; believesthat RACA is the UK’s leading professional association dedicated to culinaryexcellence, education and training; acknowledges that Gary’s election to whatit considers is this renowned and prestigious body is both a significantpersonal honour and testament to what it believes is his tireless dedication toculinary education and leadership; understands that, throughout his career,Gary has demonstrated exceptional talent, inspiring countless students andchampioning Scotland’s hospitality sector on both a national and internationalstage though his passion for teaching and mentoring, which, it considers, hasmade a lasting impact both in the college and across the wider industry;believes that this latest recognition underscores his role as a nationalambassador for Scotland's food and drink, and warmly wishes Gary continuedsuccess.
