Promoting Camogie in the East End of Glasgow

The motion

That the Parliament commends Ceann Creige Hurling and Camogie Club, which is based in the east end of Glasgow, for its unwavering dedication to promoting and developing camogie, making it Scotland's only club for this traditional Irish sport; acknowledges what it sees as the challenges faced by the team, including organising training sessions on rented school grounds and undertaking extensive travel for matches, often requiring significant personal commitment from players and staff; celebrates its remarkable achievement of reaching the AIB All-Ireland Junior B Camogie Final in December 2024, just five years after the club's establishment in 2019; recognises its efforts in fostering community engagement by introducing over 600 school children to hurling and camogie through taster sessions and regional tournaments in 2023, as well as coaching over 420 children through curriculum-based programmes; appreciates what it sees as the club's role in preserving and sharing cultural heritage, while promoting physical activity and inclusivity within the community, and encourages continued support for Ceann Creige as its strives to grow camogie and hurling in Scotland, inspiring future generations to participate in these sports.
