Glasgow Homeless Charity Wins Top UK Health Award

The motion

That the Parliament acknowledges The Marie Trust, a Glasgow-based charity supporting people experiencing homelessness, on being named one of the winners of the prestigious 2025 GSK IMPACT Awards, in partnership with The King’s Fund; believes that this accolade reflects the charity’s outstanding work in providing holistic support to individuals with complex needs, addressing poverty, trauma and challenges in accessing essential services; notes what it sees as the charity’s innovative counselling and psychotherapy services, which are accessible without formal referral and extend to HMP Barlinnie and Glasgow City Council’s women’s homeless assessment service; commends The Marie Trust’s commitment to reducing drug-related harm and preventing avoidable deaths; welcomes the reported £40,000 in unrestricted funding and participation in a leadership development programme that will further support its vital work; highlights the charity’s collaborative partnerships with criminal justice, social work and health agencies, as well as its ground-breaking hospital outreach service, which is designed to reduce hospital readmissions; acknowledges the charity’s contribution to tackling digital exclusion through its literacy project, in partnership with Citizen Literacy, and wishes The Marie Trust continued success in its invaluable efforts to support some of the most vulnerable individuals in society.
