The motion

That the Parliament recognises what it sees as the important work of ActionAid UK, a charity working with women and girls in poverty around the world, that aims to empower them to be leaders, claim their rights, earn a living and end gender-based harm; acknowledges that it is part of the Scottish International Development Alliance; understands that ActionAid actively involves women and girls in decision making to support them as changemakers and leaders in their own right; recognises the value of ActionAid’s policy research, such as research on civil society movements in Ethiopia; further recognises its push for long-lasting positive outcomes for women and girls in the global south; commends ActionAid’s responses to humanitarian crises that put women and girls first, as some of the most vulnerable groups during disasters, and extends its support as it works with partner organisations to respond to the recent earthquake in Myanmar.
