Congratulating Marianne Ridland on Winning the Regional Final of the Independent Schools Scottish Young Musician of the Year Competition

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Marianne Ridland, a pupil at Lomond School inHelensburgh, on her success in winning the regional final of the IndependentSchools Scottish Young Musician of the Year Competition at the RoyalConservatoire in Glasgow on 23 February 2025; notes that the competition is runby Scottish Young Musicians, who hold a festival of music competitionsthroughout the year to provide a spotlight for young Scottish performers;understands that the win allowed Marianne to progress to the national finalwhere she sang beautifully against talented performers from across Scotland;believes that Marianne has done herself, her family, her school and the widercommunity proud with her talented vocals allowing her to achieve runner-upin the competition; wishes her well for the future, and looks forward to seeingher succeed in her chosen career.
