Congratulations on the Refurbishment of Bereavement Comfort Room at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital

The motion

That the Parliament acknowledges and warmly congratulates the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow on the refurbishment of its bereavement comfort room, known as the Garden Room; recognises that this newly revamped space has been thoughtfully designed to offer privacy, solace and dignity to parents and families experiencing the heartbreak of baby loss; notes that the refurbishment was carried out in close collaboration with the hospital’s midwifery team to ensure that the space meets the emotional and practical needs of bereaved families, providing a quiet and supportive environment away from the busy maternity unit; acknowledges the important contribution of the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity in managing the project, and welcomes the generous £10,000 donation from the HFD Charitable Foundation, which helped make the transformation possible; recognises the role of thoughtful design, including soft furnishings, calming colours and comfortable seating, in making the space feel less clinical and more compassionate, and commends all those involved in delivering this meaningful and sensitive project, which will provide comfort to countless families during some of their most difficult moments.
