Celebrating 10 Years of the Access Film Club at Glasgow Film Theatre

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Glasgow Film Theatre (GFT) and the National Autistic Society Scotland on the 10th anniversary of the Access Film Club programme, which provides an autism-friendly cinema experience for individuals aged 15 and over; acknowledges the success and impact of the programme and GFT’s commitment to inclusion, accessibility and creating welcoming spaces for people with autism; notes that the Access Film Club has shown over 100 screenings and welcomed more than 3,000 admissions, offering relaxed screenings with adjusted sound levels, LED stair lights and post-film discussions; recognises the special screenings of The Stimming Pool and Harmonic Spectrum, as well as Fantastic Mr Fox, in celebration of the programme’s anniversary and World Autism Acceptance Month; commends GFT for its pioneering role in making cinema more accessible and inclusive, and congratulates all those involved in the Access Film Club on its continued success and growth.
